5 Reasons Lifting Cream is Essential for Your Professional Beauty Kit

Lifting cream is the first product applied in a lash lift or brow lamination. In the BOMB Duo and K-Bomb systems it is called Step 1. This guide explains what a lash lift lifting cream does, where it fits in a three-step service, how it is packaged, and what to check before using it. It is written for licensed lash and brow professionals. Note that "lifting cream" here means the lash and brow product, not a facial skincare cream sold under a similar name.

What is lash lift lifting cream?

Lash lift lifting cream is a chemical solution that changes the structure of the hair so that it can be reshaped. The BOMB Duo Step 1 product page describes it as a solution that restructures the hair shaft of the lashes by raising the cuticle layer and breaking down the disulphide and hydrogen bonds, which makes the lashes easier to mold around a lash shield or rod. The K-Bomb Step 1 Lifting Cream is described in similar terms: it breaks down the hair structure so that lashes and brows can be reshaped.

On its own, lifting cream does not complete a service. It is always followed by a neutralizing step and then a moisturizing or conditioning step.

Where Step 1 fits in a three-step lash lift

Both systems we stock use three steps, applied in order:

  1. Step 1, lifting cream. Breaks down the bonds in the hair so the lashes take on the shape of the shield or rod.
  2. Step 2, neutralizer. BOMB Duo Step 2 neutralizes the lifting cream. K-Bomb Step 2 is a neutralizing lotion that sets the new shape.
  3. Step 3, moisturizing serum. The final step in both systems. For BOMB Duo, the product page notes that Step 3 is also the step used to remove the lashes from the shield.

Because the steps are designed as a system, use the Step 1, Step 2 and Step 3 products from the same range rather than mixing brands.

Lifting cream for brow lamination

The same three steps are used for brow lamination. BOMB Duo is sold as a dual lash and brow system, and the K-Bomb steps are described for both Korean-style lash lifts and brow laminations. In a brow service, the lifting cream is applied to the brow hairs once they have been brushed into the desired shape. The neutralizer and moisturizing steps follow in the same order as for lashes.

How lifting cream is packaged

Single-use sachets are the standard format for the lifting creams we carry:

  • BOMB Duo Step 1: 10 x 1.5 ml sachets, made in the UK.
  • BOMB Duo Step 1 & 2: the lifting cream and the neutralizing cream sold together.
  • K-Bomb Step 1 Lifting Cream: sold on its own and as part of K-Bomb Steps 1, 2, 3 and the K-Bomb Starter Kit, which contains 10 sachets of each step.

Sachets mean each service uses a fresh, sealed portion of product. When you plan stock, count one set of Step 1, Step 2 and Step 3 per service.

What is in BOMB Duo Step 1?

The BOMB Duo Step 1 product page lists cocoa butter, biotin and vitamin B3 among its ingredients. K-Bomb products list a copper peptide complex and the flavonoids quercetin and fisetin. For a complete ingredient list, check the packaging of the product you have, because formulations can change.

Before you use lifting cream

  • Patch test. The K-Bomb product pages state that a patch test is required. Follow your local regulations and your training provider's protocol for every client.
  • Professional use only. The K-Bomb products are labeled for professional use only. Lash lift and lamination products should only be used by trained professionals.
  • Consultation and forms. Record the client's consultation and consent. Our downloadable forms collection has documents for this.
  • Eye protection. Use under-eye gel patches or pads and keep products away from the eye itself.

Tools used alongside lifting cream

Lifting cream is applied once the lashes are attached to a shield or rod. The other items involved in that stage are:

  • Shields or rods, for example the Ultimate Curlers (8 pairs, S to XL1, used without adhesive on the back) or silicone lash lift rods.
  • Adhesive to hold the lashes on the shield. Pro Bonding Adhesive is clear and dissolves in water. BB Squeeze Glue Adhesive is a 10 ml squeeze tube.
  • Applicators, such as micro brushes or the Pink Y-Tool, for placing lashes and applying product.
  • A timer to track processing time for each step.

Processing time

Processing times depend on the system, the client's lash type and your training. Use the times given in the manufacturer's instructions and procedure card for the product you are using. We do not publish general timings here because they vary by product and client.
